The Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources has granted an environmental authorisation in terms of Section 24L of the National Environmental Management Act (Act 107 of 1998), as indicated in the authorisation .
This serves as a notification in terms of Regulation 4(2) of the Environmental Impact Regulations (2014) that an Amended Environmental Authorisation has been granted on the 26th of May 2025 by the Chief Director: Mineral and Petroleum Regulation Northern Regions of the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) and received by the Holder of the Environmental Authorisation of the 4th of June 2025. A copy of the approval document is also available here on the Clean Stream Environmental Consultants’ website.
Should you wish to appeal against any aspect of the decision, an appeal in terms of the appeal procedure provided for in Chapter 2 of the National Appeal Regulations of 2014 must be submitted to the Minister of Environmental Affairs within 20 days of the date of this notification and copied to the Holder of the Environmental Authorisation (Sasol Mining (Pty) Ltd Impumelelo Mine), the DMR and Clean Stream Environmental Consultants. The relevant methods to lodge an appeal are included in the Environmental Authorisation and the official appeal form must be obtained from the Department of Forest, Fisheries and Environmental (DFFE), the contact information is also provided in the EA.
